Washing Machine Installation Gone Bad

Yes, you can save a few bucks installing home appliances yourself, but when is it worth it to call in the pros?  For answers, check out the notes of a pair of apartments managers in Daytona Beach, FL, who had a rude awakening to the ins and outs of a simple washing machine installation.

Having managed several buildings  in this exotic locale the duo decided to do away with the use of a Daytona Beach plumber and used their own truck to get a replacement for a tenant’s busted washer.

After bringing the new unit inside, the quicker of the two simply grabbed his wrench and went at the hot and cold hoses that tethered the old machine to its [moorings.  The cold came off easily, but the hot hose was a lot tougher.  Try as he would, the thing wouldn’t budge: until suddenly it came off all at once, sending a nasty spray across the room and soaking everyone in it.

Luckily, they were in Florida, where a surprise shower won’t induce hypothermia, and the local Daytona Beach plumbing shop quickly came in and fixed the pipes up as good as new.  These particular Daytona Beach plumbers pointed out the culprit: a patchwork pipe system leading to the hot and cold faucets in the installation.

As luck would have it, (ill luck, that is) – the pipes behind the metal faucet fixtures were made of a weak, unfit kind of plastic, that couldn’t take the strain of the wrench on the tightened hex nut, and that’s why the team of Daytona Beach apartment managers suddenly found themselves all wet.

Don’t let this happen to you: be cautious with water pipes, and when in doubt, call in some plumbers who always take the precautions necessary, because they do the same jobs every day!
